In With The New

Thanks to my wonderful Big Sis and Her Ridiculously Tall Hubby, I have new bedding. Granted, I still have to get rid of the old bed. But it's a start.

For Christmas, Big Sis & Tall Guy gave me a comforter/sham/bed skirt set. When she got here and saw my room again, she told me she didn't think it fit with what I had started. So she provided the Target gift receipt. Today, I went and exchanged it. I got a gorgeous quilt with matching shams. My mom will be happy to note that the quilt is long enough to hide the box springs. I was telling her earlier today that I'm not a bed skirt kind of person. They seem awfully girly to me. She told me we'd have to see if my box springs showed. I think she was going to get those box springs covered if it killed her. So they are covered. And no bed skirt for me. YEAH!!

I love my bedding. It's very grown up for me. It's a departure from the 20-something decore I've clung to for the last few decades. I still want to get a few more throw pillows to fill it out. And I have to eventually replace the whole bed and get some curtains and general furniture in my room. But that can all wait until the stupid divorce is all finalized and all the physical possessions are actually handed out.

So for now, here is a before and after shot of my bed. Ignore any of the mess I wasn't able to crop out. Just focus on the bed and the metal sculpture over the head of the bed.

The new bedding looks GREAT! I love the color. I can't wait to see what color you pick for the room. (And I love the metal sculpture, too.)

That's so funny about your mom and the bed skirt. My boxspring shows - agh, the shame! :-)

So beautiful! I'm totally coveting that metal sculpture as well. Where did you get it?

Ok, I gotta have the metal sculpture. Love the quilt and pillow shams!

Nice! I'll admit that I was going to ambush you with a dust ruffle when you come to Boston this month when I read your post, but then I saw the picture and the bed looks great. So the ambush is cancelled :)

It looks beautiful - mature, lovely and not girly-girly. Perfect.

I hate bed skirts too but my comforter has to touch the floor because under the bed is where I keep all of the books that don't fit on the bookshelf.

Ohhhh, that's PRETTY! It makes me want to run away to a home shop now and get some bedding! Actually... that's a really good thought - why not? My bedding is ugly! I'll add that to the list of things to do when I can walk again!

Kristen - well, I had wanted that green for the walls. That will be a bit of overkill now. So probably just leave the walls boring and splash color everywhere else.

Wanda - any time you want - come on over!

Jen - The metal sculpture is from Mexico. Tons of stores here where the owners drive across the border, pay probably pennies for works of art and come back to charge us big bucks (but still cheap by my standards).

Moanna - come on down and I'll take you shopping!

Trish - you wouldn't DARE ambush me with such girliness!

Beck - thanks!

Sara - I stopped putting stuff under my bed once I got a walk-in closet the size of my old Boston apartment! (slight exaggeration)

Allie - Like I said, I'll win that lottery and come take you shopping!!!

My mom is fussy about bedskirts, too. I liked the "before" with the fun blue bedding, but the "after" is warm and gorgeous.

Stacy - I love fun bedding. I have all sorts of polka dotted and striped sheets. I have a set of full Sponge Bob sheets to match the boys' twin sets. I may have a grown up TOP to my bed but the sheets underneath will remain goofy like me.
